Q-3 Read the passage carefully and make notes on it and also give a suitable title. In 776 BC the First Olympic Games were held at the foot of Mount Olympus to honour the Greek's chief God Zeus. The Greeks emphasized, physical fitness and strength in their education of youth. Therefore, contests in running, jumping, discus and javelin throwing, boxing and horse and chariot racing were held in individual cities, and the winners competed every four years at Mount Olympus. Winners were greatly honoured by having poems sung about their deeds. Originally these were held as games of friendship, and any wars in progress were halted to allow the games to take place. The Greeks attached so much importance to these games that they calculated time in four-year cycles called 'Olympiads' dating from 776 BC.

1. Introduction:Games and sports play an important role in our life. It has been said that a healthy mind lives in a healthy body. Games and sports

make us healthy and fit for work. Games and sports are very necessary in our life. They make us fit, active, fresh and social.. They teach us lesson of cooperation, duty and discipline, brotherhood and national unity.

They are important for development of body as well as mind.

2. Type of Games:

There are two types of games such as Indoor Games and outdoors Games. Indoor games can be played in the rooms and halls like cards, carom, ludo, chess etc. are the most common games. Outdoor games are played in the open places and play grounds like hockey, Cricket, Tennis, Kho-Kho etc.. 3. Need:

Games and Sports are very necessary for life. They provide exercise to the body and make it active. In way games and sports not only refresh the mind but improve digestion. They develop qualities of brotherhood and unity in

people.
